Overview
The course aims to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills to be able to safely and accurately use and maintain radio detection Cable Avoidance Tool – underground service location equipment – the CAT & Genny.
Course Content
The course will cover the following topics:
- Applicable legislation and Guidance
- Associated hazards
- Risk Assessment
- Safe digging practices and control measures, including the use of associated tools and equipment
- Emergency arrangements
- Practical assessment on the use of the Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Genny
Course Benefits
After completing the course, participants should be able to use the CAT and Genny, be aware of the associated hazards and emergency arrangements that need to be put in place, and provide safe digging practices and control measures.
The participant will receive a CAT and Genny training certificate on completion of the course.
Who Should Attend
This course is ideally suited to individuals who will be working near to underground services and where work involves the penetration of the ground at or below service level.
The next step on from this course would be Avoiding Danger from Overhead Services.
Qualifications you gain
Upon completion, delegates will receive a certificate that will last for 3 years. This course will need to be completed again if delegates wish to renew this qualification.
