Meet the team

Gordon has 32 years combined experience in the mining, construction, civil engineering and utility sectors – 30 of which have been specifically in a health and safety role. Gordon is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), a member of the International Institution of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM) and a registered consultant with the OSHCR Registration Scheme. He advises clients in relation to their health and safety obligations and offers practical advice and guidance in relation to this. Gordon is an approved tutor for NEBOSH, Site Safety Plus ConstructionSkills, IOSH, CIEH. In addition Gordon is also a CAA and City & Guilds approved Assessor.

Although the company has grown rapidly since starting up in 2006, Gordon remains very much at the heart of the company and maintains close working relationships with clients and has forged a strong bond with the HSE. He is extremely passionate about personal professional development and ensures the staff at Seaham Safety Services embark on their own training and development programmes.

Judith MacPherson joined the business as Director of Corporate Services. She moved from her role as Director at DISC, an independent charity which works with the socially deprived and excluded. However, she still lends her expertise to the voluntary organisation on a consultancy basis. Meanwhile, her position at Seaham Safety Services Limited adopts a wide-ranging role which includes responsibility for HR, Finance and the strategic development of the business overall.

Gordon has been with the company since its inception. He is responsible for directing the day to day activities of the health and safety department and advising and supporting the team. He is also tasked with ensuring the company has a rigorous IT infrastructure.

Gordon is the holder of a NEBOSH Construction Certificate and holds Tech IOSH membership.

Jackie has over 15 years experience working in the construction industry, 10 of which were spent working for CITB-ConstructionSkills, dealing primarily with grant applications, NVQ’s and Training Plans.

Jackie is tasked with organising Seaham Safety Services Limited Training Courses and dealing with the associated grant claims. She is also the first point of contact for all NVQ, training and ConstructionSkills related queries. Jackie holds a NEBOSH Construction Certificate and is an Affiliate Member of IOSH.

Julie came to the company in November 2009 as a Volunteer Administrator in order to complete her NVQ level 2 in Business Administration. Having successfully completed her qualification she has since been employed by the organisation to assist with the general administration duties within the office. Julie is also responsible for setting up training/conference rooms and ensuring refreshements are available for the delegates.

John brings 43 years of construction experience to the company as an NVQ assessor. John first qualified as an Assessor some 20 years ago and was one of the original Assessors to to be appointed by the CITB now known as Construction Skills.

He joined Seaham Safety Services Limited following a position as a Trainer Assessor and Internal Verifier at City of Sunderland College. Where he gained a BA hons in Adult and Further Education
